In addition to having NBA approval, NIT Meghalaya has secured consistently high NIRF rankings for last few years. NIT Meghalaya has the mission to produce students with the multi-dimensional approach by providing them with skill-based multifaceted courses through NEP-2020. The Academic Bank of Credit is functional for our students. Dynamic Curriculum development is continuing and already started implementing for the B.Tech programmes in the institute. The students have to undergo internship program mandatorily and also take up research-oriented projects primarily focussed on product development to give them the desired confidence and the outlook for innovation.

The institute has an excellent placement record with multiple offers from reputed national and multinational companies. The Alumni of NIT Meghalaya are one of its greatest strengths and brand ambassador of the institute. The institute creates an engineering start-up ecosystem by establishing an innovation incubation and entrepreneurship development centre. It promotes innovation, research and entrepreneurial activities in technology-based areas among the students and young faculty members. At present NIT Meghalaya is functioning in a temporary campus at Shillong. With the support of the MoE and state govt we are expecting the completion of permanent campus at Village Saitsohpen, Sohra, Meghalaya within the next 1(one) year with best of the facilities for the excellent academic ambience.

In an effort to bridge the gap between academia and industry, the institute promotes industry academia interface to acquaint the students with latest industry trends and emerging cutting-edge technologies. The Centre for Career Development facilitates students in undergoing employability skill training program in the institute along with internship programs in various organisations of repute to widen their exposure and knowledge domain. Frequent industrial visits and involvement in industry relevant projects exposes the students to real world challenges and offers opportunities to utilise their academic knowledge and demonstrate their problem solving skills. We have excellent infrastructure and well equipped with requisite state-of-the art amenities to conduct campus placement activities, viz. parallel interview sessions, pre-placement talks, group discussions etc. In view of the challenges imposed by the pandemic we have also revamped our e-hiring platforms to experience seamless online-recruitment process. Taking cognisance of the prevailing uncertain times in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak, the Institute has ramped up the infrastructural facilities for conducting the placement related activities of the students smoothly through online modes. Facilities are upgraded for remotely conducting the test, facilitating interviews through VCs and interacting with the students and the recruiters through a number of virtual platforms on AV modes. Even the semester classes and examinations for UG/PG students are now being conducted completely online using G-suite applications, like Google-Meet, Google-Classrooms and other online tools. Moreover, all the classrooms are well equipped with high-speed LAN connection for smooth functioning while delivering live lectures. The state-of-the-art studio set up in the Centre for Technology Enabled Learning provides requisite facilities to the faculties for developing high-quality video contents which are disseminated to the students through online streaming. The Computer Center Lab is well equipped with Apple IMac machines with 1TB HDD, 8GB RAM, intel i5 3.4GHz processor and 5K retina display. This Lab is used for conducting various online activities that require enhanced graphics features and also for conducting workshops/seminars through remote access. The institute has also successfully conducted National Level Entrance examinations like JNUEE, CSIR, NEET-UG etc., organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA) through online mode by utilising its high speed internet bandwidth and excellent power backup infrastructure available.
