I. Eligibility Criteria for Admission into M.Sc. Program through Institute Mode:

M.Sc. in Physics: Must have B.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics (Honors/Pass) or B.Sc. in Electronics (Honors/Major) with Physics minor. Mathematics must be one of the subsidiaries in both B.Sc. in Physics/Applied Physics and B.Sc. in Electronics. Must have 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) for Gen/EWS/OBC, and 55% or 6.0 CGPA (out of 10) for SC, ST & PwD candidates. Mathematics is compulsory in 10+2 level.

M.Sc. in Chemistry: Chemistry as Honors/Major in B.Sc. with 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) for Gen/EWS/OBC, and 55% or 6.0 CGPA (out of 10) for SC, ST & PwD candidates. Mathematics is compulsory in 10+2 level.

M.Sc. in Mathematics: Must have Mathematics as Honors/Major in B.Sc. with 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) for Gen/EWS/OBC, and 55% or 6.0 CGPA (out of 10) for SC, ST & PwD candidates. Mathematics is compulsory in 10+2 level and also in all semesters of UG.

For Result Awaited Candidates:

  • In case the result of the qualifying degree is awaited, provisional admission will be permitted to a candidate subject to meeting the above minimum academic requirements latest by September 30, 2024.
  • The Institute reserves the right to cancel admission due to non-fulfillment of eligibility criteria by September 30, 2024.
  • Result awaited candidates are encouraged to apply only if they secured at least 55% or 6 CGPA (out of 10) for Gen/EWS/OBC, and 50% or 5.5 CGPA (out of 10) for SC/ST& PwD categories till 5th semester/2nd year of their B.Sc. program.

II. Selection Process:

The vacant seats after CCMN 2024 admission will be filled through Institute mode admission. The candidates without a JAM score are also eligible to apply provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria as mentioned above. However, preference will be given to candidates qualified JAM-2024. For the institute mode admission, an entrance test and/ or interview will be conducted for the selection of candidates. Depending upon the vacant seats available after CCMN final round, a merit list will be published based on the performance in the entrance test and/ or interview.

III. Application Process for Institute Mode

  1. Instructions:
  • The candidates need to apply through the online link provided below for the admission to M.Tech. Programme.
  • All the documents should be uploaded in pdf format only. So, candidates are requested to be ready with the required documents in pdf format before you start filling out the application form.
  • The pdf file should be renamed as “candidate’s first name_document name”. For example, if the candidate’s name is “Ramesh Das”, then the pdf file name of the payment reference should be “Ramesh_payment reference”.
  • The following documents need to be uploaded in pdf format.
    1. Payment reference [candidate’s first name_payment reference]
    2. Category certificate except GEN category [candidate’s first name_category certificate]
    3. B.Sc. Mark sheets of all semesters/years and B.Sc. certificates in a single pdf file (up to 5th semester for result awaiting candidates) [candidate’s first name_B.Sc. marksheet and certificate]
    4. Class 12th mark sheet & certificate in a single pdf file [candidate’s first name_12th marksheet and certificate]
    5. Valid JAM qualified certificate in a single pdf file (if applicable) [candidate’s first name_JAM]
  • B.Sc. certificate is not required to upload for result awaiting candidates.
  • At the time of admission, all the original mark sheets, certificates and valid JAM certificate (if applicable) are required to be submitted for verification.

Note: Due to technical difficulty, if any candidate submits multiple applications, then the last submitted application will be considered for further processing.

  1. Payment Process using State Bank Collect (SB Collect):

Application fees of Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/PwD and Rs. 1000/- for others to be paid online via the following link. Candidates are advised to make the payment first and then fill in the application form. In the application form candidates are required to fill in SB Collect Reference Number (e.g., DUM5748215) and date of payment.

  • A DISCLAIMER CLAUSE page will open. Check the box for I have read and accepted the terms and conditions stated above and click on the PROCEED button.
  • From the drop-down menu, State of Corporate/Institution, select Meghalaya.
  • From the drop-down menu, Type of Corporate/Institution, select Educational Institutions. Click on the GO button.
  • From the drop-down menu, Educational Institutions Name, select NIT MEGHALAYA FEE COLLECTION. Click on the SUBMIT button.
  • A page for details of payment will open. Under Select Payment Category, select APPLICATION FEES.
  • Please read the complete page carefully. A page to verify details and confirm this transaction will appear. Click on the CONFIRM button if your details are correct.
  • You will be directed to the payment page.
  • Complete the payment process by selecting the mode of payment that you wish.
  • After once completing the online payment, generate the payment receipt in pdf format and keep it for your future reference and to upload in the online application process.
