SC/ST Cell

National Institute of technology Meghalaya constructed SC/ST cell as per the instructions of Government of India, Ministry of Personal, Public Grievances and Pension (Department of Personal and Training) vide office memorandum No. 43011/153/2010-Estt. (Res) dated 4th January 2013. The cell constructed with the following members,

  2. Dr. Maneswar Rahang, ME, Member
  3. Mr. R. Lastmoon Kharpran, EE , Member
  4. Mr. Bandonlang Wahlang, TA, CC, Member
  5. Mr. Anderson Rapsang, SAS Assistant, ES, Member

The role and responsibility of the cell as below,

  •  Grievances redress for the grievances of SC/ST students and employees and render them necessary help in solving their academic as well as administrative problems.
  •  Monitors and evaluates the reservation policies and other programs intended for SC/STs by the Government of India for their effective implementation at National Institute of Technology Meghalaya.
  •  Suggests the follow-up measures to the administration of the Institute for achieving the objectives and targets laid down by MHRD for the empowerment of SC/STs.
  •  Ensuring due compliance by the subordinate appointing authorities with the orders and instructions pertaining to the reservation of vacancies in favour of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes and other benefits admissible to them.
  •  Ensuring timely submission of SC/ST/OBC Reports I and II by each appointing authority under the Ministry/Department to the Ministry/Department and ensuring scrutiny and consolidation of the above reports in respect of all establishments and services in and under the control of the Ministry/Department and sending the consolidated reports in the prescribed proformas to the Department of Personnel & Training.
  •  Dissemination of the awareness of higher education to the SC/ST student.

OBC Cell

In accordance with guidelines of the Government of India as communicated by the Ministry of Education from time to time, the Institute is pleased to nominate Dr. Deepak Kumar, Assistant Professor,Computer Science & Engineering Department, NIT Meghalaya, Shillong as the Liaison Officer for OBC’s.

Dr. Kumar will look after the welfare and interest of OBC faculty, staff and students. He shall ensure due compliance with rules and guidelines of the Government of India. He shall also act as the Liaison Officer between the Ministry of Education, other minorities and Government Departments. etc. for supply of information, answering questions and queries and clearing doubts in regard to matters covered by the reservation orders and also carry out all such duties and activities as stipulated by the Ministry from time to time.
