	Ph. D. Programme:The Institute shall admit Ph. D students under the following categories:
	I. Full Time: Scholars under this category shall work full time for the Ph.D. courses/research. They may receive fellowship offered by the Institute as per Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD) norms / other funding agencies.

	II. Sponsored (Part-Time):This PhD programme for Industry people, Corporate and faculty of senior colleges (Poly-technique & Junior college are not to be included) where PhD is a requirement. Employees from Industries, Corporate Houses, Research and Development (R&D) Organizations and Faculties of Senior Colleges with minimum working experience of 5 years, out of which 2 years should be from the current organization, will be eligible for applying to the Sponsored Ph.D. Programme. Candidates are not entitled to receive any fellowship from Institute. Shortlisted candidates for Sponsored (Part Time) Programme should mandatorily propose a Co-Supervisor, along with his/her brief bio-data and consent, from the parent organization or from any reputed Institutes closer to the work place of the candidate before taking admission into NIT Meghalaya. At the time of applying they must mention the proposed Co-supervisor and his/her organization in the form.
	Eligibility Criteria for Admission into Ph. D. Programme:
	- 
		For Full Time Scholars:Master’s degree in Engineering/ Science/ Technology/ Humanities and Social Sciences/ Management Sciences/ or Master’s degree in the allied subjects with consistently good academic record and a minimum of 60% (55% in case of Humanities and Social Sciences) marks or an equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree. Candidates with B.E./ B. Tech. with an aggregate of 75% marks or equivalent GPA with valid GATE score will also be eligible
- 
		For Sponsored (Part Time) Scholars:
		
			- 
				 Master’s degree in Engineering/ Science/ Technology/ Humanities and Social Sciences/ Management Sciences/ or Master’s degree in the allied subjects with consistently good academic record and a minimum of 60% (55% in case of Humanities and Social Sciences) marks or an equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree. OR
- 
				Candidates with B.E. / B. Tech. with an aggregate of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA are eligible. Relaxation for SC/ST & PH as per GOI norms.
- 
				Employees from Industries, Corporate Houses, Research and Development (R&D) Organizations and Faculties of Senior Colleges with minimum working experience of 5 years, out of which 2 years should be from the current organization, will be eligible for applying to the Sponsored Ph.D. Programme.
- 
				Candidate’s age should not be more than 58.
 
	Relaxation for SC/ST/PWD Candidates:
	Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA for SC/ST/PWD category applicants as per GOI Norms.
	Application Fees:
	Application fees of Rs. 500/- for General/OBC and Rs. 250 for SC/ST candidates to be paid via online. No application fee to be paid by PWD candidates.Application fees is not refundable under any circumstances.
	Selection Procedure:
	Eligible candidates may be required to appear for an online written test and/or interview in respect of his/ her discipline to be conducted by the concerned Department. Shortlisted candidates based on performance in the written test will be called for interview. Both written test and interview may be completed on the same day. It may be extended for one more day depending upon the number of candidates appearing for interview.
	The date for determining eligibility of candidates in every respect shall be considered as on the closing date, i.e., the last date of the submission of online application form.
	Depending upon the number of applications received, the Institute reserves the right to fix higher eligibility criteria for the shortlisting of the candidates for the selection process.

	STEP-I: Candidates are advised to make the application fee payment as per category (Rs. 500/ for Gen/OBC, Rs. 250/- for SC/ST and no fee for PWD). Application fees is not refundable under any cirumstances.
