Admission to M. Tech. Programme Starting in July 2025 (Autumn 2025) Under Sponsored (Full-time and Part-time) Category

Applications are invited for admission into the Sponsored M.Tech. Programme (Full-Time and Part-Time) starting in July/August 2025. The disciplines in which the Programme will be offered are as follows:

M.Tech Programme: The Institute shall admit students under the following categories:

M.Tech. Sponsored (Full-Time): 

1. Eligible candidates working nearby the feasible location can apply for the Programme if sponsored by an industry of repute/ R&D organization/ higher academic institution/government organization. He/ She must have two years of regular experience in the current organization after completion of B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent degree, as Scientist/officer/Engineer/ Technical Staff, etc., in the discipline for which admission is sought.

2. The candidates under this category shall have to take a minimum of 1-year leave for the duration of course work of M.Tech. programme from the parent organization to attend the classes as a regular student at the institute.

M.Tech. Sponsored (Part-Time):

Eligible professionals, including staff of NIT Meghalaya/ employee from R&D organization and higher education institution within Meghalaya can apply for the Programme. He/She must have continuous two years of regular experience in the current organization as Scientist/officer/Engineer/ Technical Staff, etc., in the discipline for which admission is sought.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission into M.Tech. Sponsored Programme:

The eligibility criteria for both the categories (Full Time & Part Time) are as follows:

1. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology with minimum 6 CGPA or 55%. Or a Master’s degree with at least 60% marks (6.5 CGPA) in the appropriate discipline of science or equivalent. Relaxation of 5% marks / 0.5 CGPA is applicable for SC/ST/PwD candidates. GATE qualification shall not be essential for taking admission into the Programme under the Sponsored category.
2. The candidates should produce a sponsorship certificate in the prescribed format certified by the employer to get admitted into M.Tech. Sponsored (Full-Time) category.
3. Candidate’s age should not be more than 45 years till the last date of application.
4. Two years of regular experience from the current organization as Scientist/officer/Engineer/ technical staff etc., in the discipline for which admission is sought

General Instructions and Information

1. Relaxation for SC/ST/PwD Candidates for both Full Time and Part Time as per GOI Norms. 
2. General/OBC candidates are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only) and for SC/ST/PwD/women candidates, a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 500/- (Rupees five hundred only). The application fee is not refundable under any circumstances. Check STEP I mentioned below for payment process.
3. The date for determining eligibility of candidates in every respect shall be considered as on the closing date, i.e., the last date of the submission of online application form.
4. Depending upon the number of applications received, the Institute reserves the right to fix higher eligibility criteria for shortlisting of the candidates for selection process.
5. Eligible candidates are required to appear for a written test and/or interview in respect of his/ her discipline to be conducted by the concerned Department. No TA/DA will be paid for attending test / interview.
6. Candidates shall be governed by the ordinance and regulations of NIT Meghalaya
7. Fee structure will be updated under http://www.nitm.ac.in/p/fee
8. The status regarding the selection of candidates for the admission to the MTech Programme (Sponsored) Category will be available at institute website (http://www.nitm.ac.in/).

How to Apply:

i: Candidates are advised to make the application fee payment as per category (Rs. 1000/ for Gen/OBC, Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/PwD/women). Fees once paid are not refundable under any circumstances.

ii: Fill in the application form correctly and completely.

STEP:-I: Instructions for Payment Process using State Bank Collect (SBI Collect):

1. Click on “Make Payment using SBI Collect” below.

2. From the category list, Click on the Educational Institutions.
3. From the drop down menu, Educational Institutions Name, select NIT MEGHALAYA FEE COLLECTION.
4. A page for details of payment will open. Under Select Payment Category, select APPLICATION FEES.
5. Please read the complete page carefully.
6. A page to verify details and confirm this transaction will appear. Click on the CONFIRM button if your details are correct.
7. You will be directed to payment page
8. Complete the payment process by selecting the mode of payment that you wish
9. Save Reference number and date of payment for filling the online Application.

STEP II: Submission of Application Form:

1. Click to fill the online application form, (Online-link)
2. Fill the form completely and correctly.
3. If a candidate is applying for more than one department, the candidate must pay application fee separately and the application form also must be sent separately.
4. Incomplete application, application received without Payment Receipt or without the academic documents as stated below shall be summarily rejected without any explanation.
5. The soft copy of the documents mentioned below should be uploaded in the online google form on or before the last date.

1. Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC) in standard format issued by the Competent Authority.  OBC certificate should be issued after April 01, 2025.
2. Appointment letter issued by the current employer and Experience Certificate of last two years.
3. Sponsorship Certificate/No Objection Certificate from the employers (if employed) in the prescribed format;

1. Sponsorship cum No-Objection Certificate for M.Tech Sponsored (Full-time) (Form - III A)
2. No objection certificate for M.Tech (Part-Time) (Form III B)

4. Self attested copy (1^st page) of all research publications in Journals and Conferences (if any).
5. Disability certificate in standard format (in case of PWD candidates) issued by the Competent Authority.
