Admission to M.Tech Programme Starting in July (Autumn 2023) Under Sponsored (Full-time and Part-time) Category

Applications are invited for admission to Sponsored M.Tech Programme (Full-Time and Part-Time) starting in July/August 2023. The disciplines in which the Programme will be offered  are as follows:

M.Tech Sponsored (Part-Time): 

Eligible professionals, including staff of NIT Meghalaya/ employee from R&D organization and higher education institution within Meghalaya can apply for the Programme. He/She must have continuous two years of regular experience in the current organization as Scientist/officer/Engineer/ Technical Staff, etc, in the discipline for which admission is sought.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission into M.Tech Sponsored Programme:

The eligibility criteria for both the categories (Full Time & Part Time) are as follows:

• Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology with minimum 6 CGPA or 55%. Or a Master’s degree with at least 60% marks (6.5 CGPA) in the appropriate discipline of science or equivalent. Relaxation of 5% marks / 0.5 CGPA is applicable for SC/ST/PWD candidates. GATE qualification shall not be essential for taking admission into the Programme under the Sponsored category.
• The candidates should produce a sponsorship certificate in the prescribed format certified by the employer to get admitted into M.Tech Sponsored (Full-Time) category.
• Candidate’s age should not be more than 45 years
• Two years of regular experience from the current organization as Scientist/officer/Engineer/ technical staff etc, in the discipline for which admission is sought

General Instructions and Information

• Relaxation for SC/ST/PWD Candidates for both Full Time and Part Time as per GOI Norms. 
• General/OBC candidates are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only) and for SC/ST candidates, a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 500/- (Rupees five hundred only). PwD candidates are completely exempted from paying the application fee. The application fee is not refundable under any circumstances. Check step I for payment process.
• The date for determining eligibility of candidates in every respect shall be considered as on the closing date, i.e., the last date of the submission of online application form.
• Depending upon the number of applications received, the Institute reserves the right to fix higher eligibility criteria for shortlisting of the candidates for selection process.
• Eligible candidates are required to appear for a written test and/or interview in respect of his/ her discipline to be conducted by the concerned Department. No TA/DA will be paid for attending test / interview.

• The status regarding the selection of candidates for the admission to the MTech Programme (Sponsored) Category will be available at institute website (http://www.nitm.ac.in/). Selected candidates will be informed through email in respect of admission guidelines.

How to Apply: 

STEP-I: Candidates are advised to make the application fee payment as per category (Rs. 1000/ for Gen/OBC, Rs. 500/- for SC/ST and no fee for PWD). Fees once paid are not refundable under any circumstances.
STEP-II : Fill the application form correctly and completely .

STEP:-1: Instructions for Payment Process using State Bank Collect (SBI Collect):

1. Click on “Make Payment using SBI Collect” below.

2. Click on ‘EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS’
3. In the search tab type ‘NIT MEGHALAYA’.
4. Select ‘NIT MEGHALAYA FEE COLLECTION’.
5. A page for details of payment will open. Under Select Payment Category, select APPLICATION FEES.
6. Please read the complete page carefully.
7. A page to verify details and confirm this transaction will appear. Click on the CONFIRM button if your details are correct.
8. You will be directed to payment page
9. Complete the payment process by selecting the mode of payment that you wish.
10. Save Reference number and date of payment for filling the online Application.

STEP II: Submission of Application Form:

1. Click to fill the application form , (Online Form)
2. Fill the form completely and correctly.
3. If a candidate is applying for more than one department, the candidate must pay application fee separately and the application form also must be sent separately.
4. Incomplete application, application received without Payment Receipt or without the academic documents as stated below shall be summarily rejected without any explanation.
5. The form along with soft copy of the documents mentioned at pt 6 should be uploaded in the online google form on or before the last date.
6. The documents should be scanned (not a photo), properly oriented and arranged in the order given below:
   • Click to download the application form , (Application Form)
   • A recent photograph of the candidate is to be fixed on space provided in the application.
   • Application fee receipt
   • Proof of date of birth
   • Educational qualifications, mark sheets and certificates in line with the filled online application form.
   • Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC) in standard format issued by the Competent Authority.  OBC certificate should be latest.
   • Appointment letter issued by the current employer and Experience Certificate of last two years.
   • Sponsorship Certificate/No Objection Certificate from the employers (if employed) in the prescribed format;
     • Sponsorship cum No-Objection Certificate for M.Tech Sponsored (Form - III A)
     • No objection certificate for M.Tech ( Form III B)
   • Self attested copy (1st page) of all research publications in Journals and Conferences (if any).
   • Disability certificate in standard format (in case of PWD candidates) issued by the Competent Authority.

Note: If any of the above specified dates is declared as holidays, consequently the next working day is considered as last date.
