Brief Bios Dr. B. K. Sarkar
Dr. B. K. Sarkar is currently working as an Associate Professor
in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Professor in Charge, Centre for
Robotics and Mechatronics, National Institute of Technology Meghalaya, Shillong.
He was Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, National Institute of
Technology Meghalaya during 2017 to 2019. Dr. Sarkar Served various administrative
responsibility in the Department and Institute. He obtained his B.E. (Mechanical
Engineering), ME and Ph D degree from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, West
Bengal, India. His major areas of research interests are, Mechatronics control,
Robotics, Electrohydraulic system and control, Renewable energy system controller
design. More specifically design of the advanced nonlinear control i. e.
adaptive control position tracking of loaded electrohydraulic system. In
renewable energy hydro power, wind power and solar energy system components
design and control for enhance efficiency. In robotics system study the
performance of parallel electrohydraulic manipulator, gripper system design and
control. He has published 26 papers in reputed international journals, 32
papers in reputed national/international conferences 8 book chapters and 2 books.
Dr. Bikash Kumar Sarkar guided ten (10) Masters students and one ongoing
Masters student. He has guided 4 Ph D scholar and 4 ongoings. Dr. Sarkar received
the National Doctoral fellowship award in the year of 2009. Dr. Sarkar completed
three sponsored projects, one sponsored by DST-SERB and the other two sponsored
by MHRD. He has organized one International conference and a large number of national
workshops and training program in the department. Dr. B. K. Sarkar served as a resource person
for the various workshop ‘Technology Enabled through Sensor integration for
robotics application’, organized by the Center for Robotics and Mechatronics,
NIT Meghalaya, which was sponsored by TEQIP-III. Dr. B. K. Sarkar is a life member of
professional bodies like the National Society for Fluid Mechanics and Fluid
Power (NSFMFP) and Indian society for Heat and Mass Transfer (ISHMT). He is
also member of American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) and Institute
of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
