Biography

Prof. Sanjay Agrawal is presently Adjunct Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, NIT Meghalaya and Professor in Electrical Engineering at the School of Engineering and Technology, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi. Prof Agrawal has also worked as Pro Vice-Chancellor of Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University (CSVTU) Bhilai. He is the recipient of the prestigious Bhaskara Solar Energy Fellowship from the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) and the Department of Science and Technology (DST), India. This led him to his Post Doctoral Fellowship from Smart Grid Energy Research Centre, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), USA. Prof Agrawal received his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
He has more than 23 years of rich teaching and research experience with a specialization in Electrical Engineering. He has published more than 70 papers in international journals. According to Google Scholar, his total citations are over 26300 with and i-10 index of 42 and an h-index of 28. He has presented papers in Sweden, Spain, and the USA and has given more than 50 invited talks in reputed organizations. He has also published 03 patents, titled ‘Improved Hybrid Solar Collector’, ‘Hybrid Photovoltaic Thermal Apparatus with V-Groove Absorber” and Sheet and tubes based hybrid photovoltaic thermal system. He has guided 09 Ph.D. scholars so far and is a member of the editorial board and panel of reviewers of reputed international journals. Prof Agrawal has authored 03 books namely Analog and Digital Electronics, Control System, and Renewable Energy Technologies.
His industrial experience includes working with MNCs like Johnson Control (I) PVT Ltd. He has worked on Projects like ‘Automatic power factor correction’ funded by Applied Electro-Magnetic (P) Ltd, ‘Improved hybrid solar cooker’, and ‘Greenhouse dryer’ funded by TEQIP.
He has designed and developed industry-oriented programs like the PG Certificate and PG Diploma in Industrial Safety. He also coordinates a skill-oriented certificate course for technicians in Motorcycle Service Repair which is now also being offered to South African countries through IGNOU-GOAL, Guyana Project
He has also developed 06 Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs): Principles of Electrical Science, Renewable Energy Technologies and Their Uses, Emerging Technologies in Renewable Energy, Power Generation Technologies, Industrial Automation and Drives, and Maintenance and Testing of Electrical Machines. All these courses are available on the SWAYAM platform. On the SWAYAM PRABHA channel of the Ministry of Education, he coordinates a course on ‘Electrical and Mechanical Safety’. His lectures are regularly telecasted on the Gyan Darshan channel, Gyan Vani radio, and the official Facebook page of IGNOU. His digital content is also available on Egyankosh, the digital repository of IGNOU.
Prof Agrawal has been Chairman of, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of various peer teams, a Member of the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of various peer teams, and Chairman of the selection committee, of the National Testing Agency, Delhi. He has also been a chairman and member of different committees of AICTE, Technical Universities, and the Public Service Commission. He has also been involved in examination-related activities of national agencies, state public service commissions, and other Universities. He has also been a member of different Executive Councils, Academic Councils, and Board members of the Universities/colleges. In addition to this, he has coordinated many Faculty Development Programme (FDP)/workshop/short-term courses sponsored by AICTE, DST and CSTT, Ministry of Education.
Prof Agrawal is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, India (FIE) and a Chartered Engineer of the Institution of Engineers, India. He is also a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, USA (SMIEEE). He is also life member of ISTE Delhi. He is also a secretary General of the Indian Society for Technical University (ISTU). His areas of interest include grid-connected photovoltaic systems, micro-grids, solar PV water pumping systems, power electronics, electrical machines, circuit theory, power systems, and hybrid solar thermal.
