Head of the Department



The Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya is a 4-year integrated dual-major undergraduate program that culminates in a combined B.Sc. B.Ed. degree. Formulated under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 mandates, this course enables students from a science background to complete their graduation and professional teaching degree concurrently.


To prepare visionary and compassionate teachers who integrate deep subject knowledge, innovative pedagogy, ethical values, and technological competence to inspire every learner and contribute to an inclusive, equitable, and future-ready education system.
 

Objectives 

• To develop reflective practitioners who are research-oriented and committed to national development and social transformation.

• To prepare future-ready educators who can effectively use emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to enhance teaching and learning.

• To foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills so that teachers can design learner-centered and innovative instructional strategies.

• To nurture environmental consciousness and social responsibility, aligning educational practices with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

• To strengthen the teaching profession through a rigorous and integrated curriculum that combines global perspectives with local relevance.

• To inspire lifelong learning and continuous professional development among teachers.

• To promote inclusive and equitable teaching practices that address the diverse needs of all learners.
