The Human Language Technology Lab (HLT Lab) at NIT Meghalaya was established in the year 2026 with the support from Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, NIT Meghalaya and MeitY, Govt of India. 

Equipped with 4 (Four) nos of high end workstations with GPU computing facilities and 6 (Six) desktops. 

Some of the activities include the natural language processing tasks of low resource languages such as Khasi, Garo, Pnar and Manipuri etc. The speech processing tasks of the low resource languages are also initiated. 

The lab is hosting a speech to speech translation service of 9 Indian languages together with English. The ISHAAN project under BHASINI mission mode focussing on machine translation system development is also under execution in this lab.
