National Institute of Technology Meghalaya is offering Summer Internship Program for the session June - July, 2026. The main objective of this programme is to encourage the bright and well-motivated students of different institutions to pursue an innovative research and development project work under the guidance of faculty members of NIT Meghalaya. Applications are invited from B.Tech., M.Tech., M.Sc., & H.S. students of various Institutions across the country for this programme. The internship is available in the following departments: Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Computer Science & Engineering (CS), Civil Engineering (CE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering (EE), Chemical & Biological Sciences (CBS), Mathematics (MA), Physics (PH), and Humanities & Social Sciences (H.S). The list of projects for the Summer Internship Program is provided in Annexure-I.

Eligibility:  

 B.Tech.: Completed six semesters in the relevant disciplines of engineering.

M.Tech.: Completed two semesters in the relevant disciplines of engineering.

M.Sc.: Completed first year in any of the following disciplines: Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/ Humanities & Social Sciences.

Duration: The internship shall be for a period of 5 weeks between 15^th June and 18^th July, 2026.

How to apply: Interested students must submit the application form for the Summer Internship Program at NIT Meghalaya. The scanned copy of the duly filled application form forwarded by their Head of Department/Institution must be sent through email to internship.cell@nitm.ac.in by 25^th May 2026. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered for further processing.

Selection Process: Selection of applications will be based on the recommendations of selection committee of the respective departments at NIT Meghalaya. NIT Meghalaya reserves the right to accept or reject an application without assigning any reason thereof. List of shortlisted candidates for the Summer Internship Program will be published on the institute website by 3^rd June 2026. No postal communication will be made in this regard.

Caution Money: Selected candidates must deposit an advance amount of Rs. 8500/- as a caution money which is refundable only after the successful completion of the internship. Details of payment process will be uploaded with list of shortlisted candidates on institute website.  

Accommodation and Mess Charges: Shared accommodation will be available in student’s hostel on payment basis. A non-refundable maintenance charge of Rs. 2200/- will be charged for those candidates who shall be opting for hostel accommodation. Selected candidates must arrange the bedding set (like mattress, bed sheet, pillow, & blanket) by their own.  This amount includes (a) Seat rent of Rs. 1500/- per month, (b) Electricity and Water charges of Rs. 500/- per month and (c) Internet fees of Rs. 200/- per month. Also, the candidates shall have to bear their mess expenses at the rate of Rs. 168/- per day during the internship period at NIT Meghalaya. The total amount including hostel maintenance charges and mess charges will be deducted from the caution money deposited by the candidate(s) in advance.
